Keeping it Natural

Sometimes, you like your hair, but you don't really love your hair. So you don't really want to change it, but enhance it.

The perfect solution for this is subtlelights!

Unlike traditional foil highlights with noticeable demarcation lines and straight pattern, alternating between panels of untouched natural hair, and balayaged low-level lightener creates natural looking dimension throughout the hair.

Imagine the surfer girls who sit on the beach all summer long and never put a single thing in their hair but have the perfect highlights, that's the effect this mimics.

Dark hair requires time and patience to rid itself of dark and brassy tones, so conserving heat is important. I choose to wrap darker hair in cling wrap so I can always see whats going on, and the lightener sits until it is dry and flaky when the wrap is pulled away.

Once lightened, I wanted to pull the residual brass out while keeping a little bit of warmth to blend with her natural hair tonality.

The results were a beautiful shimmer and shine that blended seamlessly with her natural color.
